Shannon Pappas is a doctoral student at the University of Connecticut. Her research focuses on how computer-mediated communication (CMC) intersects with (stigmatized) identities and persuasion. More specifically, she is interested in how CMC narratives, such as social media, can be used to (dis)enfranchise stigmatized groups. Additionally, she is interested in how algorithmically driven content impacts users on and offline.
