About

Emily Hutter, PhD is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication at the University of Connecticut. She received her PhD from the University of Connecticut in 2021 studying Crisis & Risk Communication and completed a Postdoctoral appointment with Northeastern University in 2023. Her research interests include crisis & risk, decision-making behavior, information-seeking, and behavioral intention. Her research is published in journals such as Progress in Disaster Science, Health Security, The Journal of Emergency Management, and Journal of Strategic Innovation and Sustainability. Emily’s academic career is both research and instruction intensive, instructing courses such as Quantitative Research Methods & Statistics, Public Speaking, Media Literacy & Criticism, Business and Professional Speaking, Business Communication, and The Process of Communication.
